What Are E-Books?
E-books are often called electronic books because they are electronic versions of
traditional printed books. E-books can be read on your computer screen, be printed
out and read, or be read by using portable E-book readers.
E-books are available on-line from individuals and from booksellers. Many books
today are available in both electronic form and printed form. Each has their benefits.
A printed book gives you permanent, hard copy of the information contained therein.
An e-book can be stored digitally and doesn’t take up space on your bookshelves and
is always available for reading whenever you have your computer turned on.
You can read your e-book from your computer screen or print it out yourself in entirety
or in sections, printing only pages needed for reference or for rereading such as
instructions, poems, sayings. Some e-books offer hyperlink navigation and word-searching
which enables the reader/researcher to quickly find what they are looking for, and
hyperlinks and word searches are much more effective than using a printed index
or concordance.
E-books come in a variety of sizes from a few pages to several hundred pages. Some
e-books are in black and white, some in color, and cover virtually every topic available.
An e-book purchase usually offers immediate download of the book ... there is no
waiting period or cost for delivery of the book. However, if you want a printed copy
of the e-book, you have to print it out yourself, or when it is offered, buy a printed
copy of the book.
