About Dr. Brenda Smith, ND
I have a history and background of working in the areas of healing and wellness. I have 20 years experience in the medical field, working first as a Medical Assistant in a clinical astmosphere.
Following this I worked at KU Medical Center in the Infertility Clinic. My time at KU Med Center was very rewarding.
It was during my tenure at KU that I realized I had a growing and avid desire to work at a higher level of caregiving in the areas of wellness and healing. Therefore, in 1998 I enrolled in the LPN (Licensed Practioner Nurse) program at Northeast Vo-Tech in Afton, Oklahoma. I graduated in 1999 and worked in a hospital environment.
I left the hospital to work for Pediatric Preferred Care, caring for terminally ill children in their homes. This work is what brought me to Naturopathic Medicine. I became ill taking care of a client and was in bed for several weeks.
I wasnt getting any better so I went to a Naturopath and in 3 days I was out of bed, still weak but able to function. Then I shortly became completely well.
I decided then to learn more about Naturopathic Medicine, an alternative medicine. I did and I found that it was a healing science with a completely different approach to wellness than any I had came in contact with before. Naturopathy deals with the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, and it brings health and healing through natural means.
I was so impressed, I attended an accredited naturopathic College. I graduated from The Trinity College of Natural Health in Warsaw, Indiana. I am now in the process of becoming Board Certified through the American Naturopathic Medical Association.
The Lord has put me on a wonderful journey of helping others and caring for them. I feel so blessed to be able to make a difference in their lives by bringing wellness and healing to them through the science and healing-methods of Naturopathic Medicine.
I wish to share with you that the Lord is a big part of my practice, I tell my clients that God put everything on this earth to heal us and that man seems to have forgotten that. I am just a tool that he works through. Before I test a client I ask God to guide me and show me what He wants me to see. He has blessed me and given me peace in my life. Thank you for letting me share this with you.
In my practice I use the following to treat my clients:
-
Nutrition It is a cornerstone to optimal health. Scientific evidence validates this natural approach for prevention of diseases. Some medical conditions can be treated effectively with foods and nutritional support.
-
Herbal or Botanical Supplements These supplements are powerful plant substances which trigger changes, adaptations, and repairs in the cellular level of the body, and promote and enhance healing.
-
Testing - I use the Avatar for testing my clients locally, and I test clients that live in other states by surrogate testing through their saliva.
-
Consultation and Counseling - I discuss in-depth with my clients the things that they and I can do to bring wellness and health into their lives, and the ways that the science of Naturopathy can help them to heal and cope. During consultation/counseling sessions, I give encouragement and support to my clients as they travel on their road to healing.
It is my desire to help you find the wellness that I have found through the science of Naturopathy. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your health concerns with me, please contact me via
